Today is Deck Day. And I'm pumped. Too bad I'm considering giving up alcohol for a while.

So everyone in the world is updating their LiveJournals again (some people longer than others, but me not realizing it because I was unknowingly logged out of my account for six months.) So I guess I'll start to update mine.

My "Economics and the Law" class hopes to be interesting. My professor is one of those people who thinks they're funny, but people laugh at his humor for a reason completely different than he is laughing at it. Regardless, the subject matter and text look promising and it should be one of my more enjoyable classes. Nothing notable to say about Poli Sci Research Methods or Politics of the EU.

I really want to see Frost/Nixon, but I'm afraid I won't be able to handle Frank Langella's terrible impersonation of Richard Nixon for two hours. There really are very few movies out there right now that have any promise in them, except for maybe Slumdog Millionaire which I'm sure I'll never get around to seeing.

I Watched "Wanted" at the fraternity house last night - a movie about a fraternity of assassins is much funnier sitting in a room of fraternity men aspiring to be assassins.

I made a Roland Burris joke in Senate last night and it went over well, surprisingly. I've gotten much more comfortable being Senate President in the sense that I'm starting to make the position more of my own and adjusting the office to my personality instead of purely basing it off of the traditions of my predecessors. People took me really seriously my first term in Senate and now that I'm chair I think people understand me more and the levity I infuse into a lot of situations.

Who would have thought simple logic would be so confusing?

I'm so restless right now. But I'm in such a good place.

I feel completely different than I did in high school. I feel like things are just naturally working out for me, and I'm learning every day that accomplishments and failures are meant to happen, they happen for a reason. Almost everything that was really important for me to accomplish in this semester, I've succeeded at. I probably met my best man. Got elected as a Student Senator (something that seemed like an unrealistic dream 9 months ago when I first walked into the Senate Chambers). Managed to garnish respect in that Senate after only being in office for a few weeks. Made a strong group of friends. Got an internship in Charlie Crist's office. Finally made friends with my roommate and suitemates. (Most likely) Started college off with a 4.0. Taken time to stop and enjoy the blue skys and cold air.

I find it funny that I've really grasped ahold of politics and am seriously considering going into that arena one day. I spent four years in debate feeling that I was inadequate compared to my teammates because I did Interp instead of current affairs debate. Granted, I won a lot more awards than any of my teammates did so it was a pretty good strategy, but I still always felt like they looked down on me because I didn't flaunt my knowledge of policy and politics like they did. I just sort of feel a sense of justice. I'm someone that wants to be taken seriously and really respected, and I feel like I am at FSU, as opposed to some other place I went to school. I think that's my point.

So now I'm at this point of happiness, but I'm still restless enough to know that I have a lot more to accomplish. So much more.

I should be sleeping but I feel like writing instead.

I was elected to the FSU Student Senate last week and tonight we were inaugurated and it was awesome! Sitting in that big leather chair for the first time was really exhilarating and everything was just happening so fast.

Already as Senator for only twelve hours I am gaining the benefits of being in Student Government. Already I got invited to T.K. Wetherells (FSU's President) SportsPlex Opening Ceremony, I get to go to TK's house for a pizza party with the other Senators, and as a Senator I get to go to a super exclusive banquet called "Clock and Seal" which is held by FSU's secret honor society "The Flaming Spears." I guess they're not so secret... but it's really difficult to become one and no one really knows much about them.

I also went to this really nice bar/restaurant called Cafe Cabernet. And I felt really cool and sophisticated. I like that feeling.

So in the end I got slated for Senate (I find out if I get elected October 3rd) and I'm not going to join a Fraternity. It was a long, drawn out process, but I'm now sure more than ever that everything happens for a reason, and I know things will turn out alright. Now I have the money to study abroad among other things, and I'm going to be going through college a lot less restrained in one little social area than I would have been if I had joined a frat.

This is definitely a confusing time, but a great one. This is one big great confusing time.

Today I got really drunk with friends and the Seminoles won.

Yeah, it was a good day.
